The 35th Hong Kong Products Expo (HKPE), organized by the CMA, was held from December 16, 2000 to January 8, 2001 at Tamar Site. Over 680 indoor and outdoor booths were set up at the Expo, displaying and selling a wide spectrum of high quality products. In addition to the Technology Pavilion, All-in-One Pavilion, Food Plaza and Macau Products Gallery, four pavilions namely the Chinese Medicine Pavilion, Eco Gallery, Fun Fun Street and Today & Yesterday Products Gallery were set up for the first time to cater for the diversified interests and

needs of the general public and the business community. The Expo was sponsored by the HKSAR Trade and Industry Department and was co-organized by the Hong Kong Tourist Association, Hong Kong Productivity Council, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Hong Kong Industries, The Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association, Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Industrial Association of Macau and The Small and Medium Enterprises Association of Macau.

Succeeding the tradition of the preceding Expos, the 35th HKPE, under the theme of "HKPE: The Expo of Fun & Excitement", continued to promote Hong Kong's manufacturing industry and provided a fabulous shopping paradise for the public and overseas tourists.

On December 16, 2000, CMA President Mr Chan Wing Kee, Vice-President and Convenor of the 35th Hong Kong Products Expo Executive Committee Dr Jose Yu, together with General Committee Member and Chairman of the Publicity Sub-committee of the 35th HKPE Mr Fung Yuen Hon, officiated a flag-raising ceremony to mark the opening of the 24-day Expo.
