The
'32nd Hong Kong International Industrial Products
Exhibition' (Exhibition), organized by the Chinese
Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA), was held
from November 3 to 6, 1994 at level 5, Hong Kong
Convention and Exhibition Centre. Mr Zhou Nan, Director
of Xinhua News Agency (Hong Kong Branch), accompanied by
Mr Herbert Liang, CMA President, and Mr Leung Nai Wing,
CMA Vice-President and Exhibition Chairman, officiated
the opening ceremony. Guests attending the ceremony also
included senior officials of the Xinhua News Agency
(Hong Kong Branch), government officials, prominent
figures of industrial and trade sectors,
consulate-generals, representatives of various major
business corporations, CMA Vice-Presidents, Honorary
Presidents, Executive Committee members, General
Committee members and Sub-committee members.
First
held in 1938, the Hong Kong Industrial Products
Exhibitions were well received by the local
manufacturers and the public. Due to the lack of a
proper venue, the Exhibition was suspended in
1974. 1994 marks the 60th anniversary of CMA and
the 32nd Exhibition staged a come-back to
commemorate the event. |

Kong's industry to overseas countries as well as
encouraging the local sales and exports. The '32nd
Hong Kong International Industrial Products
Exhibition', not only maintained its renowned
tradition, but also contributed to establishing
international business linkage, in order to keep
pace with the rapidly expanding international
trade and industrial activities. |

The
32nd Exhibition received enthusiastic response from the
public. It attracted over 206,000 visitors, a new
admittance record of the Hong Kong Convention and
Exhibition Centre. Over 400 exhibitors from 22 countries
joined in the Exhibition. Among them, 75% were local
manufacturers while 25% came from overseas countries.
Enthusiastic participation by the foreign exhibitors
reflected the important role Hong Kong played in the
international trade. The Association also drew up a wide
range of programs at the Exhibition venue. Visitors
could experience the festive ambience of the previous
memorable Exhibitions while enjoying the pleasure of
shopping.
