Enthusiastic Response from the Public
With a high entry number of more than 1.2 million visitors, the 24-day Expo gained an enthusiastic response from the public. Crowding scenes were common on holidays. A wide spectrum of entertainment programmes were staged at the venue every day, adding extra highlights to the festive Expo. Apart from key programmes like "Miss Exhibition Pageant", "Hong Kong Top Ten Brandnames Awards", "Booth Design Competition", "Photo Contest", "Children's Drawing Competition" and "HKPE Web Page Design Competition", ten thematic days were also firstly identified as highlights of the Expo, coupled with a series of activities and performances. The thematic days include Environmental Day, Technology Day, Children's Day, Christmas Day, Macau Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Senior Citizen Day, Miss Exhibition Day and Healthcare Day.

1. Environmental Day
CMA President Mr Chan Wing Kee, the Convenor of the Executive Council the Honorable Leung Chun Ying and the Founder Chairman of the Environmental Campaign Committee Mrs Peggy Lam officiated the launching ceremony of the ecology system. An environmental fashion show was performed by famous artists and models.


2. Children's Day
Accompanied by the Vice-Chairladies of the CMA Ladies' Committee Mrs Alice Liang, Mrs Yip Chao So Wah and Mrs Rita Sin, Director of Social Welfare Mrs Carrie Lam officiated the opening ceremony of the Children's Day. A series of performances were then staged.

The CMA invited famous actress Ms Lee Heung Kam and actor Mr Tam Bing Man (upper) to perform on the Senior Citizen Day and famous singer Ms Teresa Cheung (lower) to perform on the Healthcare Day. 
To celebrate the dawn of the new millennium, a special celebration programme was staged at the Expo. Famous artiste Ms Sit Ka Yin was invited to countdown with the visitors.
 
The CMA invited many prominent singers to perform at the 35th HKPE, including Mr Wang Lee Hom (upper), Mr Richie Ren (middle) and Mr Edmond Leung (lower).
