The
first round of the Pageant was held from December
16, 2000 to January 5, 2001, during which visitors
voted for their ideal Miss Exhibition according to
the contestants' manner, communication skills,
appearance and knowledge of their companies'
business and products as well as Hong Kong's
industry. The climax of the event was the final
round of the Pageant held on the evening of
January 6, 2001, the Miss Exhibition
Day. |

During
the final contest, the contestants dressed up in different
costumes including cheong-sams, clothing designed by
famous local designer, cocktail dresses, uniforms, evening
gowns to answer different kinds of questions ranging
from tests on their selling skills to general questions
about Hong Kong. "The Most Popular Miss Exhibition On-line"
went to Ms Simy Cheung and the official training consultant
on poise and posture Ms Abbie Chan presented the prize
to her. Besides, "The Best Eloquence Award" and "The
Best Talent Award" also went to Ms Simy Cheung. Chairman
of the judging panel Mr Wan Chung On and Managing Director
of Goodway Electrical Enterprise Ltd. (a sponsor of
the Pageant) Mr Choi Lung Wai presented the respective
awards to Miss Simy Cheung. With reference to the following
four criteria, i. manner and appearance, ii. communication
skills, iii. understanding of their companies' business
and products, and iv. results from public poll, the
judging panel selected five contestants, including Ms
Simy Cheung, Ms Helen Tin, Ms Phyllis Wong, Ms Lily
Yeung and Ms Nicole Ho, to enter the second round of
the competition. They were then required to answer questions
on Hong Kong's industry and the Expo. Their performances
were used to determine their final places. The championship
went to Ms Simy Cheung who was crowned by CMA President
Mr Chan Wing Kee. The first runner-up was Ms Helen
Tin who was crowned by Vice-President Dr Jose Yu.
Ms Phyllis Wong, the second runner-up, was crowned
by Vice-President Mr Lo Man Tuen. The title-winners
will play the role of goodwill ambassadors to assist
CMA in promoting Hong Kong's industry in the following
year.
The Pageant received ardent
support from sponsors. The CMA appointed Shimmer New
York as the official cosmetics to provide skin-care,
make-up and image design training for the contestants.
Il Colpo/ Architech Studio was invited as the official
hair design and Concept Photo as the official photographer.
On the other hand, Chinese Domain Name Corporation
Ltd. sponsored the on-line polling station for Miss
Exhibition Pageant and Chinese domain name for each
contestant of Miss Exhibition Pageant. Charles Chan,
Ip & Fung CPA Ltd. was appointed as the official
honourable auditors to assist in counting on-site
and on-line public votes on the contestants of the
Pageant. For sponsorship of the contestants' costumes,
CMA expressed gratitude to Yue Hwa Chinese Products
Emporium Ltd. for providing cheong-sams, Concept Photo
for evening gowns, Pacino Wan for trendy fashion and
MOISELLE for contemporary wear. |
