6. Web Page Design Competition
The Web Page Design Competition was organised for the first time in line with the launching of the HKPE official website "HKPE On-line". It aims to enhance public understanding of the 35th HKPE through their participation in the design of the cover page of the official website. SmarTone Broadband Services Limited was the sole sponsor for the event as well as being a key supporting organization for the 35th HKPE.

The judging panel was chaired by Mr. Francis Ho, Commissioner for Innovation and Technology, with Mr. Thomas Tang, Executive Director, Hong Kong Productivity Council, Dr. C. J. Su, Visiting Professor of Texas A&M University, Mr. Alex Wong, General Manager, Business Markets, SmarTone Broadband Services Limited, and Dr. Yip Chi Kwong, Chairman of the Innovative Technology Committee and General Committee Member of CMA as members of the judging panel. The judging panel highly appreciated the standards of the works in which participants were able to reflect the theme of the HKPE.

Winners were awarded cash prizes and gifts sponsored by SmarTone Broadband. The champion of the Open Category was awarded a cash prize of HK$5,000 while each merit-prize winner was awarded a cash prize of HK$1,000. For the Junior Category, the champion was awarded a cash prize of HK$2,000 while each merit-prize winner received a cash prize of HK$500. Gifts included a Motorola A6188 WAP Phone, Broadband/Dial-up unlimited access services and SmarTone stored-value SIM cards.

The prize presentation ceremony was held on the Technology Day of the HKPE dated 17 December 2000. The winning design of the Open Category can be viewed on the HKPE official website "HKPE On-line".

The prize presentation ceremony of the 2000 Hong Kong Top Ten Brandnames Awards was held on January 18, 2001. Organized by the CMA for the second time, the Award aims to give recognition to outstanding brand names established by Hong Kong companies, to encourage manufacturers in pursuit of excellence, to promote Hong Kong products, and to enhance the profile, both locally and internationally, of Hong Kong's manufacturing industry. The Award was also a key programme of the 35th HKPE.
