Apart from setting up the Brandname Square to match the theme, Eco Gallery, Chinese Medicine Pavilion, Technology Zone, Food Plaza, All-in-One Pavilion and Outdoor All-in-One Area were set up to cater for the diversified interests and needs of the general public and the business community. Eco Gallery this year showcased innovative green products and renewable energy technologies. The gallery was divided into a few thematic exhibition areas such as Eco Christmas Log House, Eco Dome, Family Organic Garden and Renewable Energy Tower, displaying Eco Christmas decorations, furniture made of recycled materials, organic planting materials, solar and wind generators.

Prominent leaders from the Government and Business Community Showed Up for the Expo

On December 15, 2001, CMA President Mr Chan Wing Kee, Chairman of the 36th Hong Kong Products Expo Executive Committee Dr Jose Yu, together with General Committee Member and Chairman of the Publicity Sub-committee of the 36th HKPE Mr Fung Yuen Hon officiated at a flag-raising ceremony to mark the opening of the 24-day Expo.

The opening ceremony of the 36th HKPE was held right after the flag-raising ceremony. A number of distinguished guests were invited to attend the ceremony. They included Vice-Chairman of the National Council of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (NCCPPCC) Dr Henry Fok Ying Tung, HKSAR Chief Executive the Honourable Tung Chee Hwa, Director of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government Mr Jiang En Zhu, Commissioner of the Chinese Commissioner's Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC in HKSAR Mr Ji Pei Ding, HKSAR Secretary for Justice the Honourable Elsie Leung, Chairperson of the Legislative Council the Honourable Mrs Rita Fan, Secretary for Commerce and Industry Mr Chau Tak Hay, Secretary for Information Technology and Broadcasting Mrs Carrie Yau and Managing Director of Goodway Electrical Enterprise Ltd. Mr Choi Lung Wai. Accompanied by CMA Permanent Honorary President Mr Herbert Liang, Honorary Presidents Mr Chow Chung Kai, Dr Wong Po Yan, Mr Yip Hing Chung, Dr Chow Yei Ching, President Mr Chan Wing Kee and Chairman of the 36th Hong Kong Products Expo Executive Committee Dr Jose Yu, these Guests of Honour officiated at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Apart from CMA Honorary Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Executive Committee members, General Committee members and Sub-committee members, guests attending the ceremony also included the HKSAR government's principal officials, senior officials of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government, consular corps and leading figures from industrial and trade sectors.
