Expo Review

36th Exhibition

During the exhibition period, many senior government officials and leading figures from all sectors of the community visited the expo upon invitation from the Association. Financial Secretary for the HKSAR Government the Honourable Anthony Leung also visited the expo and bought some merchandizes from a few booths. Deputy Secretary for the Environment and Food Mr Donald Tong, Assistant Director of Environmental Protection Department Dr Michael Chiu, Assistant Director of Water Supplies Department Mr Ku Chi Chung, famous actress Ms Cecilia Yip, Manager of Hanison Construction Co Ltd Mr Clarence Leung together with Chairman of the 36th Hong Kong Products Expo Executive Committee Dr Jose Yu, officiated at the launching ceremony of the Environmental Day on 23 December, 2001. Acting Director of Social Welfare Mrs Patricia Chu, accompanied by CMA Ladies' Committee Chairlady Mrs Rita Sin, Vice-Chairladies Mrs Loretta Chow, Mrs Nora Cheung and Mrs Sophia Yin, also officiated at the launching ceremony of the Children's Day.

With enormous support from a wide spectrum of sectors, the Expo was sponsored by the HKSAR Trade and Industry Department and was co-organized by Hong Kong Tourism Board, Hong Kong Productivity Council, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Hong Kong Industries, The Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association and Industrial Association of Macau.

Numerous Fabulous Programmes

A wide spectrum of entertainment programmes were staged at the venue every day, adding extra highlights to the festive Expo. Key programmes included "Hong Kong Top Ten Brandnames Awards", "Miss Exhibition Pageant", "Booth Design Competition", "Photo Contest", "Children Drawing Competition", "Christmas E-card Design Competition" and "Scratch Game Card" together with fashion shows, movie shows, sports games, pop concerts, magic and acrobatics shows, music and dancing performances. The programmes were organized to match the 12 thematic days namely Brands' Day, Volunteers' Day, Senior Citizen Day, Environmental Day, Christmas Eve, Children's Day, Christmas Day, Food Varieties Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Miss Exhibition Day and Healthcare Day.
