6. Children's Drawing Competition

The Children's Drawing Competition was organized to enhance public understanding of the 36th HKPE and local manufacturing industry. Children under the age of 12 are eligible to join the competition with the theme "The HKPE in My View". Co-organized by Sing Tao Daily, the competition was widely supported by Luk Ka International Limited, Sino United Publishing (Holdings) Limited and Sun Ya Publications (HK) Limited by providing book coupons to winners. The competition, held from December 23, 2001 to January 1, 2002 amid the Christmas and New Year's holidays, received an overwhelming response from the public with more than 1,400 pieces of high standard works collected.

The competition was divided into two categories: Junior Category (age 8 or below) and Senior Category (age 8 to 12). The judging panel, chaired by CMA Executive Committee Member Mr Lee Hung Tong, with Art Director of Sing Tao Daily Mr Danny Wong, Head of Design, Hong Kong Trade Development Council Mr Matthew Leung, Director of Creative Services, Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Ms Candy Tam and Art Director of Emphasis Custom Media Ms Teresita Khaw, selected the winners of the two categories.

The champions and the runner-ups of both categories were each awarded a trophy, a cash prize of HK$1,000, HK$500 and HK$300, a book coupon of HK$500, HK$400 and HK$300 and a gift pack respectively. Consolation prizes winners were each awarded a certificate, a book coupon of HK$200 and a gift pack.

The prize presentation ceremony of the Photo Contest and Children's Drawing Competition was held on February 2, 2002.

CMA hosts a Gratitude Dinner

To celebrate the enthusiastic responses from the public and to express sincere gratitude to the support from various sectors for the 36th HKPE, CMA hosted the Members' Gathering cum Gratitude Dinner on January 17, 2002. To thank for the support from the sponsor and co-organizers of the Expo, CMA President Mr Chan Wing Kee presented souvenirs to their representatives, including Deputy Director-General of Trade and Industry Department Mr Joseph Lai, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of The Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association Mr Zhou Jie, Vice Chairman of External Affairs Sub-committee Mr Anthony Kwan, Branch Director of Hong Kong Productivity Council Mr Weiman Chu, Manager of External Relations of Hong Kong Trade Development Council Mr Brian Ng, General Manager of Chamber Services of The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce Ms Connie Kwok, Director of Design Protection Centre of Federation of Hong Kong Industries Mr Liu Kwok Bond. Other guests attending the dinner included Champion of the 36th Miss Exhibition Pageant Ms Elke So, First Runner-up Ms Pearl Lo and Second Runner-up Ms City Lee, Champion of the 35th Miss Exhibition Pageant Ms Simy Cheung, Second Runner-up Ms Phyllis Wong, judges of all competitions and representatives from sponsors.
