6. Booth Design Competition

The Booth Design Competition has been one of the highlights of the HKPE. As preceding Expos, many exhibitors of the 34th HKPE put much effort in booth design and product display in order to attract more visitors. They all tried hard to make their booth as elegant and outstanding as possible.  CMA invited representatives from seven co-organizers as judges of the competition. They included General Manager of Marketing Communications of Hong Kong Tourist Association Mr Tony Tse, Executive Director of Hong Kong Productivity Council Mr Thomas Tang, Head of Design of Hong Kong Trade Development Council Mr Matthew Leung, General Manager of Chamber Services of Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce Ms Connie Kwok, Vice-Chairman of Young Executives' Sub-committee of The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Mr Peter Tse, Director of Federation of Hong Kong Industries Mrs V. C. Davies, Vice Chief Executive of The Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association Mr Zhu Shixiong.

The judges visited the booths during the Expo for assessment. Finally, three winners were chosen according to the selection criteria of overall design, product display and integration of booth design with product features for the best effect. The champion was Hong Kong Productivity Council.  The overall design and product display of the HKPC's booth was innovative that highlighted its theme of technology dome. The first-runner up was German Pool (HK) Ltd. The judges unanimously agreed that the outlook of its booth was splendid and trendy that perfectly matched its hi-tech products. The second runner-up went to Hoe Hin Pak Fah Yeow Manufactory Ltd. The judges opined that its booth design was simple and clear in theme.  The prize presentation of the competition was held on December 14, 1999 at Tamar Site.
