1999 Exhibition

Presentation Ceremony of Miss Exhibition Pageant

On December 28, 1999, a prize presentation ceremony was held for the winners of Miss Exhibition Pageant. The champion, Ms Catherine Yuen, was awarded a cash prize of HK$150,000 and a set of diamond ornaments by CMA, health food (Cordyceps Militaris and Harp Seal Oil) from Kwong Lee Bio. Product Co. Ltd., Goodway home electrical appliance coupon from Goodway Electrical Enterprise Ltd., membership, personal training and aromatherapy facial treatment coupons from T.L.C. Fitness Chain, cosmetics, treatment and image design coupons from Shimmer New York, skin care products (MP17 Micro Peel System and Dermal Rejuventor's Bio Synergy Intergrated Rejuvenation System) from Dr Esthetic Product Research & Production Centre, Chinese herbal health product (Beauty & Healthy) from Long Far Herbal Medicine Mfg. (HK) Ltd., audio equipment from Alco Electronics Ltd., Chicken Shark's Fin Noodle from Triple Noodle & Food, Wu Yi Shan 4-day tour for 2 persons from China Travel Service (HK) Ltd. and a camera from Stereo Ltd.

The first runner-up, Ms Zhu Li Jun, was awarded a cash prize of HK$100,000 and Goodway home electrical appliance coupon sponsored by Goodway Electrical Enterprise Ltd., a set of diamond ornaments by CMA, membership, training courses and aromatherapy facial treatment coupons by T.L.C. Fitness Chain, cosmetics, treatment and image design coupons by Shimmer New York and a telescope by Stereo Ltd.

The second runner-up, Ms Aries Li, was awarded a cash prize of HK$50,000, of which $40,000 and $10,000 sponsored by CMA and Alco Electronics Ltd. respectively, a set of diamond ornaments and a mattress by CMA, membership, personal training and aromatherapy facial treatment coupons by T.L.C. Fitness Chain, Goodway home electrical appliance coupon by Goodway Electrical Enterprise Ltd., cosmetics, treatment and image design coupons by Shimmer New York and a telescope by Stereo Ltd.

The winner of "The Best Eloquence Award" Ms Josephine Wu and "The Most Cooperative Award" Ms Vickie Wong was each awarded a valuable watch by CMA.

 

2. Hong Kong-Macau Together

To celebrate the reunification of Macau with the People's Republic of  China, CMA organized the "Hong Kong - Macau Together" programme at the fairground of HKPE on December 29, 1999.  A number of distinguished official leaders were invited to witness the occasion.  There was a 60-member delegation from Macau, which included Chief Executive of Macau SAR Mr Edmund Ho Hau Wah, Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macau SAR Mr Francis Tam Pak Un, Chairman of Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute Dr Lee Pang Hong, and Member of the Executive Council and Legislative Council Mr Vitor Ng, etc. Hong Kong guests included Deputy Commissioner of the China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in HKSAR Mr Tang Quoqiang, Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Dr Robin Chan, Chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce Mr C C Tung, Standing Committee Member of the National Council of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Mr Chuang Shih Ping, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Federation of Hong Kong Guangdong Community Organizations Mr Yu Kwok Chun, Advisor of the Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Assoication Mr Hu Zhao Guang, Executive Director of Hong Kong Trade Development Council Mr Michael Sze, Executive Director of Hong Kong Productivity Council Mr Thomas Tang, President of Hong Kong Baptist University Dr Daniel Tse, etc.  Over 200 guests attended the celebration.

CMA President Mr Chan Wing Kee delivered a speech to congratulate the return of Macau to our motherland and presented a souvenir to Mr Edmund Ho.  The programme included a lion dance and performance of the famous actress Ms Vicky Zhao. Accompanied by CMA President, Vice Presidents and Assistants to President, the VIPs visited the Macau Pavilion of the Expo.  The Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute supported the Pavilion by earmarking a handsome subsidy to support local enterprises to participate in the Expo. The Pavilion was co-organized by the Industrial Association of Macau and the Small and Medium Enterprises Association of Macau.  The scale of the Macau Pavilion was larger than the one in 1998.  There were more than forty booths exhibiting Macauese products in order to step up Hong Kong citizens' knowledge on Macau's society and economy.
